Blind man ‘sees’ his way past obstacles – health – 22 December 2008 – New Scientist.
It might seem like someone who is unable to see can’t walk down a hallway without bumping into things in it. But for someone with blindness due to damage in the primary visual cortex, it appears that it is possible for someone to have “blind sight”. That means they can actually avoid obstacles that are placed in their path, though they can’t see them.
The real tragedy of these brain training programs that are being offered is that you will forget that you signed up for one. They’re supposed to help with your memory, but how can they if you don’t remember to use them?
